Who we are
Carolina Beverage Group, LLC was founded as a brewery in 1997 by former CEO J. Michael Smith and President John Stritch. Our facility was the creator and maker of a dozen high-quality craft beers sold and distributed under the Carolina Blonde and Cottonwood Ales brands. In 2002, we expanded our operations to offer contract packaging services after being recognized as the first craft brewery in the country to utilize PET packaging for its beers.
Over the past two decades our operations have transitioned from a local craft brewery into a premier contract filler for numerous national and international beverage brands. With an emphasis on high quality co-packing of specialty sized cans, our customers include the who’s who in the beverage world, including makers of well-known malt beverages, distilled spirits, energy drinks, tea’s, functional and other ready-to-drink beverages.
With locations in both the Southeast and Southwest, our facilities offer elite quality programs supported by state-of-the-art laboratories, high speed production, flexible manufacturing and the very best in warehouse management systems. Combined, our state-of-the-art facilities have capacity to produce over 60 million cases annually.
Our focus on innovation and customer service has made our facility a one-stop-shop for our customers. We embrace complexity and offer the broadest range of capabilities in the industry.
Carolina beverage Group
In 2002, we entered into the world of contract manufacturing. At the time the beverage industry was evolving from the traditional carbonated soft drink platform to the diversified functional beverage market we see today. With this evolution there became a need for beverage filling operations that offered a variety of packaging configurations, quality certifications, thermal processing applications and meet the fast growing customer demand.
In 2006, the first high speed can line was installed at what would later become our flagship location in Mooresville, North Carolina. This high speed line was created with the vision of providing quality production for innovative products and flexible manufacturing. Over the next eight years, three additional lines would follow to keep up with the increasing demand. With each installation, the production line was methodically engineered to offer the same flexibility as the inaugural line, but with a unique manufacturing capability that would better serve our diverse customer mix including cold fill, hot fill and tunnel pasteurization. Our North Carolina facility can produce all can sizes from 8 oz to 32 oz containers, including re-sealable aluminum containers.
Over the years, significant investment was made to not only increase capacity but to maintain our reputation for high quality. Our flagship location offers a complex and extensive quality program that is continuously challenged by industry recognized auditing programs such as NSF, AIB and Silliker. While the need for innovative production is stronger than ever, our focus has always been on quality.
Texas Quality Beverage
In order to keep up with the growing demand and geographic needs of our customers, we decided to expand to the high growth Southwest region, where contract packaging demand exceeded capacity. Texas Quality Beverage (TQB) in Fort Worth, Texas meets these needs while matching the service and capabilities of our flagship location. The $50 million investment for the 400,000 square foot facility will eventually allow for five High Speed Production Lines and secure in-house Distribution Center.
Commissioned in 2014, our first line was built to fill both cans and re-sealable containers and offers cold fill, hot fill and tunnel pasteurization capabilities. In 2016, our second high speed line began operations and was engineered for high speed can filling and packaging configurations and specializes in products that do not require thermal processing.
TQB offers the same quality management services, certifications, high speed production and inline monitoring that we offer in North Carolina. As a technologically advanced operation, TQB offers state-of-the-art features such as Robotic Palletizers, Batch Tracking and Management Software, scanning and advanced inline monitoring and business systems offering real time data to better support our customers.
